HUCKTOFLAT ODIN

Profile & Concavity

Nobody likes pedal strikes, they can put you off your line at the worst possible time, best case causing you to lose some time, worst case causing a crash. The HUCKTOFLAT ODIN pedal is a thin 17mm at the thickest point down to a positively tiny 13mm at the centre of the pedal. Combining the thin profile, a unique profile shape with a cutaway for clearance and angled sides for deflection the ODIN will have you missing those rocks!

What is pedal concavity and why does it matter? Concavity is the characteristic of the pedal to graduate down to a lower height in the centre as shown. This allows the riders foot to “sit in” the pedal rather than just on top. Combining concavity with long pins as found on the HUCKTOFLAT ODIN, grip is significantly increased between the shoe and pedal.

Platform & Pins

The larger the pedal platform, the larger the area for your
foot to rest on, giving a greater feeling of stability. Platform size is a fine
line between being too small to be lightweight and reduce contact and being too large, too heavy and contact prone. We believe we have hit the best size compromise
with the ODIN.

The HUCKTOFLAT ODIN pedal has 11 contact pins on each face for grip. Pedals are supplied with two different pin length options along with washers for ultimate grip tuning. Also supplied with the pedals is a tube of Loctite 243 to ensure that once installed, the pins will never fall out!

Materials

The pedal bodies are made from extruded heat treated aerospace grade aluminium that are precision CNC finished and coated with a durable matte anodising and laser etched. The pedal axles are Japanese specification chromium molybdenum (chromoly) steel which is heat treated for greater strength and fatigue resistance and finally zinc coated for longevity.

A sealed cartridge bearing and a PTFE (Teflon) lined plain bearing per pedal keeps things spinning smoothly with preloaded double rubber seals used to prevent ingress of water/dirt and to prevent the pedal spinning like a top when a foot is dropped out when getting rowdy on the trails or throwing some style over jumps.
